Lately, it seems like Thai is the food of choice when my son and I get together on Fridays. We picked up my daughter this Friday, and we headed straight for the Thai Place located at the corner of Lee Road and North Orlando Avenue in Winter Park. It doesn’t open until noon for lunch; it fills up fast shortly after it opens. Sometimes we arrive a bit early, and we hang out in the parking lot until it opens.

Regardless of the time of day, we always start with appetizers. I love the Summer Rolls or the Crispy Fried Rolls. My son faithfully orders the Chicken Satay with Cucumber Salad. I usually order a Thai Ice Tea or Thai Coffee. They’re deliciously sweet and refreshing. I’d like to order a refill, but I suspect the drinks might be high in calories (both drinks are made with sweetened condensed milk).

Even at lunch, a salad topped with a ginger-peanut dressing is served with each entrée. By this point, I’m usually full of Summer Rolls and Thai Ice Tea, but still, I drool thinking about the delicious entrée. We tend to order the same things every time we go. Usually, we stick with Pad Thai, one of the curries, Beef Param—or anything with peanuts, Thai basil, or peppers. I always threaten to try something different, but I’m so satisfied with my usual fare that I never do. The quality of the food is excellent and consistent, too. Portion sizes are more than adequate for the price, and we usually take leftovers with us. I rarely order dessert, but when I do, it’s always sticky rice with mango.

We’ve always had good, friendly service. The food is served promptly, and the servers are attentive. The restaurant is clean, and the ambiance is quiet and calm, although it seems crowded most of the time. Thai Place is open for lunch and dinner. You can preview the menu before you go by visiting the Thai Place website or on Facebook. Thai Place is one of the better Thai restaurants in Orlando.
I would be very happy eating at this Thai Place. 🙂 I worked on Lee Road a VERY long time ago.
