Saigon Flavors

shrimp and pork summer rolls

It’s about time the Vietnamese cuisine of downtown Orlando came to the east side of town. Saigon Flavors is owned by Charlie Tang, previous owner of Viet Garden in downtown Orlando. Saigon Flavors is located at 3573 Aloma Avenue in Oviedo next to the Walmart and Kohl’s shopping center.

The décor is contemporary and stylish, yet warm and inviting. It includes a bar, and plenty of dining space. (That is, unless you arrive later in the evening—then it’s standing room only.) The service is prompt, and the servers are always friendly and personable. We’ve never experienced anything less than excellent service, and we’ve eaten at the restaurant more times than I should state publicly.

Saigon Flavors has an awesome menu. It offers something for everyone. We usually start with an order of the shrimp and pork summer rolls with wonderfully thick peanut sauce (one of my favorites), the ginger-lime chicken salad, or the raw papaya with shrimp and pork. Sometimes we order the crispy spring rolls, which have a Thai flare.

We like to try different dishes. Lately, we’ve ordered the Saigon curry (the best curry in town), the crispy noodle special (enough for two people), and the Saigon steak (plate-licking good). The food is perfectly prepared and wonderfully flavored. I’m usually full after the appetizers, but I find a way to stuff myself further with the entrée. The vermicelli and pho dishes are the best in Orlando, and the chef specials never disappoint.

Prices are more than reasonable considering the quality and amount of food in each dish. Appetizers start at around $3; chef specials start at about $12; and entrees, including pho, vermicelli, and stir fry began around $8. I’m usually more than full after dinner, so I’ve never tried the dessert. I have had the Vietnamese coffee, which is both strong and sweet. If you’ve never tried Vietnamese food, Saigon Flavors should be your first experience. The food is always fresh, and the quality is consistently good. You won’t be disappointed. Visit the website and check out the menu. You can also get take out.

We went there yesterday, what an awesome restaurant, is small but charmy, the service superb and the food excellent. First we order the chicken and pork spring rolls with peanut sauce (yummy) and the chicken with raw papaya, Then the seafood curry, was delicious spicy but with very delicate flavor, My wife and son had a seafood platter each and the portion were so big that we had to take home. Next time we are going to share. Definitely a place to comeback!
