Barducci’s Italian Bistro and Pizzeria is the old Barducci’s Italian Grill reborn. It’s located at 7550 University Boulevard in Winter Park at the corner of University Boulevard and Goldenrod Road. I imagine the opening of Broadway Pizza across the street may have sparked a little competition between the two restaurants (plus Marco’s pizza opened next door in the Target shopping center). Barducci’s occupies a spot in the Unigold Shopping Center next door to Winn Dixie. I’ve dined at Barducci’s since it opened in 2003. It’s small, quaint, and adorned in simple Italian decor. The staff is warm and friendly, and service is prompt and consistent.
Barducci’s offers delivery, carry-out, catering, both in-door and out-door full service dining, a Sunday through Friday lunch buffet, and nightly dinner specials. I once worked for a local company that had Barducci’s cater often for large meetings and office functions (the food was quite good). I dine in occasionally, mostly for lunch, but lately (and often) I’ve used the delivery service for dinner (just too tired to go out).
The food is usually good as far as taste and presentation, but I must admit that it’s not always cooked consistently. Sometimes the food is cooked perfectly, but the same dish the next week may be so overcooked that some portions are hard and crunchy (a quality of microwave cooking). I was also disappointed to learn that the gnocchi was not homemade. This, of course, was before the Barducci’s Italian Grill became Barducci’s Italian Bistro and Pizzeria. The new menu promises that all dishes are made from scratch with only the best ingredients. I’m sure this is true.
We’ve ordered a number of pasta dishes from the new menu, and we haven’t been disappointed. Try the Moscato Chicken Pasta (chicken breast lightly browned and sautéed in a mildly sweet Moscato Asti wine, lemons, capers and green onions, and served over angel hair pasta) or the Chicken Francese (lightly floured, egg battered chicken sautéed with white wine and lemon, topped with fresh arugula, and served with a side of Smashed Potatoes al Limone). My personal favorite is the Linguine with Clam Sauce (chopped clams sautéed in garlic and olive oil served in our red or white sauce).
You can’t go wrong with the pizza, calzones, or Stromboli. We ordered a calzone the other day, and it was, well, monster size (actually, it’s family size). A large or extra-large deluxe pizza (pepperoni, sausage, ham, beef, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and black olives) is a an item we order often. Try “The Beast”–a 28″ pizza for a large affordable get together.
Prices are reasonable, too. Order your favorites online, then have it delivered or pick it up yourself. LIKE Barducci’s on Facebook and keep up with the latest news and events. Give them a try; I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
