This week I completed the Family Square, the fourth square of the 2015 Moogly Crochet-Along. It was fairly straight forward, although I did have a few challenges in the earlier rounds. I learned that counting stitches is critical. Crocheting at 2 in the morning, or yarning as my grand-son calls it, also lends itself to mistakes. Overall, I’m pleased with my finished fourth square.
Here are my notes for the 2015 Moogly Crochet-Along Block 4 (Family Square):
- I used a size J hook although the pattern calls for an I size hook. I found that I can’t even get close to a 12-inch square with a size I hook.
- I substituted the last round with straight double crochet and triple crochet stitches. I could not figure out the last round of the pattern to save my life. Once I added my own double-triple crochet border, I then added a last round of single crochet. Unblocked, my square is about 11-3/4 inches.
- I’m using Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn in these colors: Round 1 & 2 = Dark Grey Heather; Round 3 & 8 = Pink Rose; Round 4 & 9 = Dusty Blue; Round 5 & 10 = Taupe; Round 6 & 11 = Linen; Round 7 & 12 = Navy.
